Position Summary
The position is responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting laboratory-based research on cancer metabolism and molecular mechanisms of tumor progression, integrating functional genomics, metabolic profiling, and experimental biology.
Job Responsibilities
• Designs and conducts independent laboratory experiments to investigate cancer metabolism and disease progression.
• Partners with principal investigators and multidisciplinary research teams to co-develop study designs and define experimental approaches aligned with research objectives.
• Performs and optimizes molecular and cellular techniques, including CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and cell-based assays.
• Conducts biochemical and functional assays, including enzyme activity and metabolic pathway analyses.
• Performs and supports in vivo studies in mouse models, ensuring compliance with institutional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
• Analyzes and interprets experimental data and contributes to study outcomes.
• Prepares reports, figures, and scientific manuscripts; writes and publishes findings in peer-reviewed journals.
• Presents research results in internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
• Provides guidance and support to others within the team and student community as required.
• Maintains accurate and organized laboratory records and documentation.
• Reviews scientific literature to inform experimental design and identify areas for improvement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills
Education and Experience
PhD in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with relevant post-qualification experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong background in cancer research preferably cancer metabolism or biochemical pathways.
• Extensive knowledge of molecular and cellular techniques, including CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, cell culture, functional and biochemical assays, enzyme activity analysis, and ex vivo studies (e.g. mice models).
• Working knowledge of metabolomics or multi-omics approaches, with understanding of mitochondrial metabolism, redox biology, or related pathways is an advantage.
• Strong ability to connect experimental results with underlying biological mechanisms.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; R or similar tools is an advantage).
